Hey, that pool table ain't got no holes init!
I live about eight minutes from one of the best billiards rooms in the world, Carom Cafe in Flushing, Queens. I have been procrastinating spending some serious time there for a few years now. I know that I have some large gaps in my knowledge that affect my position play and defensive game so I am ready to start learning!
Ira has started supplying me with some training techniques that he has been working on for the past ten years. I'll be sharing some once I can make sense of them myself. Other than that, I have been playing games with good players, having them tell me the right shot to shot. It's still extremely challenging and makes my brain hurt after an hour or so.

First off: Hi there! I happened across your blog last week when I was searching for best uses for a measle ball. I ended up supporting my local family place, (instant gratification junkie), sorry about that.
Secondly, the hall I frequent just added a heated 3-cushion table and I've been very curious to give that game a try. I'll be watching your blog for tips and progress updates. :) I'm nowhere near ready for it, but the math geek in me can't wait to try it out. haha
Lastly, I wanted to thank you for actually having an active blog. I can't seem to find any other pros with blogs that are updated with any sort of frequency. Also, because of this, I've started my own [pool-related] blog - mostly to keep track of the little things I pick up from time to time.
Hi Johnny,
Thanks for following my blog! Since you live in St. Louis I have to recommend that you go see my good friend and mentor, Mark Wilson, for lessons. He is amazing and I am jealous that you get to live near by.
Best Wishes,
Liz
Hi Liz Ford,
Ira Lee is about the greatest human being on earth. Love the guy.
I'll be stopping in at Carom soon to play a little with him. I know he doesn't believe me, but I really really am. I've had some great times there, and with him, but the place is just so damned far away from me.
Good luck in China!

Liz, I've seen Mark in action at the place I go during my lunch breaks. (Cue & Cushion) It's impressive to watch him coach a player, with the video cameras and notepads. Maybe if I ever get to the point where I'm considering a serious tournament I'll give him a call, but for right now he's a bit out of my league. :/ Such a small world though that you'd know of a guy in my area - and that I've ran into him. ha!
Hey Liz!
Been a bit under the weather (along with the whole family) - but preparing for next tournament (at Carom). I hope the 3c practice is going well. :)
